Several years ago as a first year Cardiology Fellow, I decided to share all that I had learned about navigating the complexities of a multi-hospital Fellowship system, one in which I did not train for my residency. What started as a detailed e-mail, containing an attached CSV phonebook that incoming Fellows could upload to their own address book, morphed into a Word document with attachments. Having served previously as an Internal Medicine attending to residents, I noticed how learning “structure” and operating within a “systems-based practice,” could be useful to residents.
Residency has now finished for me 10 years ago and I’m now an attending once again. On June 1st, I will upload a freely available PDF, called “Theory of Internal Medicine.” While I uploaded this last year to LinkedIn, this year I will upload the final version on my own website.
I am busy working on this as we speak – Stay tuned here for the final version!
